Description

The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for directing the accounting and finance functions of the Company. The Controller will develop, recommend and implement accounting policies and procedures. Additionally, the Controller will communicate and coordinate activities with a wide variety of external contacts.

The ideal candidate must be analytical and possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must have extensive controlling and accounting experience and broad, perspective of business operations.

 

Consumer product and/or Apparel experience REQUIRED.

Base Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 - Depending on experience.

Bonus: Discretionary

  • Oversees and directs the preparation of reports that summarize business results (revenue, expense and earnings) and financial position (balance sheet and cash flow) on both an actual and forecast basis.
  • Monitor and approve spending activity of the company within the established control processes including budgets and limits of authority.
  • Preparation of insightful analyses in support of decision making. Develops strategic planning system and financial models. Directs the collection of supporting data and key assumptions.
  • Evaluate and maintain internal controls to ensure accurate reporting and the safeguard of company assets.
  • Plans and implements initiatives necessary to execute organization strategies and participates in developing organization goals.
  • Maintains and develops systems for preparing and consolidating the annual budget and forecasts. Provides direction to the operations team for budget and forecast preparation.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies and responds to their inquiries.
  • Coordinates activities with external auditors and responds to inquiries and management comments (both independent audits and local statutory reporting). Maintains current knowledge of GAAP and regulatory and tax requirements.
  • Oversees the payroll processing activity and is responsible for timely and accurate filing of payroll related taxes.
  • Develops policy and procedures for establishing standard product costs including overheads and coordinates development of annual product cost to ensure accuracy and consistency of product and inventory valuation within the Company.
  • Reviews and approve capital and major expense requests for appropriateness and proper computation of savings and return on investment. Coordinates disposition of idle assets.
  • Responsible for hiring of new employees within the department as well as termination of employees, when necessary. Performs employee merit reviews including assessing performance and establishing individual goals.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
